What is Pema

PEMA

PEMA is the acronym of Project of EMilia-Romagna for Albania and is the operational execution of the project “Vet through Innovation” designed to support vocational education and training in Albania.

The project represents an operational channel for the transfer of knowledge and skills in the field of agri-food and agro-mechanical professional training, based on the experience of the Secondary Education Institutes of excellence of Emilia-Romagna Region.

Starting from 2020,  PEMA provides Technical Assistance (AT) project with a three-year term “Support to Vocational Education and Training through Innovation” whose purpose is to contribute to the creation of a multifunctional center of excellence in the agricultural and agro-industrial sector in the Fier region (Albania) that will include the “Rakip Kryeziu” school in Fier and the Agro-mechanical school of Lushnje.

This project is dedicated to updating skills and developing a regional education system that increases employment and the growth opportunities of the agri-food system. The center will offer, especially to young people, a great opportunity for vocational education and training, ever closer to the needs of the world of work. The intervention aligns with the National Strategy for Employment and Skills and with the priorities of Italian action in Albania.

This project is part of an agreement stipulated by the Government of the Italian Republic, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania represented by the Ministry of Health and Social Policies (now the Ministry of Economy and Finance ) for the realization of which resources of € 5 million have been allocated in the form of an aid credit (interest-free loan).
