The Learning and teaching operations HUB

Following the variuos activities that “vet through innovation” technical assistance program delivered over the project lifespan, this page provides a “beta” version of repository of a “general training plan” to guide and orient future training activities at Rakip Kryeziu school and Hasan Gina school in Lushnje.

All the documents and material linked in this page are official outputs of the technical assistance program and are hereby reorganised as components of the general training plan envisaged by Pillar 1 Activity 1.4 of “vet through innovation”.

The rationale of reorganisation follows a “plan layout” to assure:
– internal school guidelines for operations (board regulation and career service guidelines)
– training general and specific objectives (according to learning teaching units methodology and soft skills scenario in vet education)
– professional general and specific objectives (according to sectoral studies and surveys in selected agriculture value chains and reorganisation of third-party services “school farm”)

INTERNAL SCHOOL GUIDELINES

According to Albanian Law 15/17 a Vet school is invited to set up a Board of directors, the composition of which is regulated by Article 13 of the Law. Vet through innovation technical assistance adopted the national Law guidelines and introduced an operative option according to which the Board collaborates and signs MoUs with stakeholders of related fields that contribute to the fulfilment of the mandate of the school and in particular with the Agriculture University in Tirana (art. 7 of internal Regulation).

A second step to regulate internal operations concerned the activation of a career service led by school “development unit”. The set of the documents prepared were in terms of the Regulation, Job description, and other documents related to the daily management of the “Development Unit”. Also, a performance template was designed . This set of documents will serve as the base for making operational the “Development Unit”. This set of the documents were delivered to the respective directors and “Development Unit” staff, of “Rakip Kryeziu” and “Hasan Gina” school.

An innovative approach is provided by Learning Teaching Units (LTU) which has been introduced over the last years in Italian and European upper secondary VET. LTUs is not just a new way of transferring knowledge since it overhauls the basic concept of knowledge comunication in class. It is a methodology that requires collaborative attitude on the part of all teachers of a class or school and is aimed at calibrating personalised teaching to each student to increase competencies based on two key concept: the context of learning in terms of region or territory offering specific opportunities to learn about agriculture potential; the targeted learning approach at individual level taking into consideration her/his overall competencies in terms of skills, attitude and capacity. In the Italian experience LTUs have defined a new approach to learning based on trainees’ competencies rather than on standard choice of curriculum thematic topics. The training session in Fier in June 2023 introduced the LTU methodology to VET teachers through examples and case studies highlighting also the targeted learning approach to each single students aimed to increase soft skills behind hard ones.

Based on field analysis, training needs in agriculture were detected and analysed. The field work was mainly targeted to detecting needs in the fruits and vegetables’ value chain. This work has led to the identification of a new qualification requirement and a new post-secondary curriculum for “management of quality in agriculture processes”.
